Does a plumber in Ireland need to be registered?
There's no single register for general plumbing in Ireland, but any gas work (including gas boilers) must be done by a Registered Gas Installer (RGI), and oil boiler work should be done by an OFTEC-registered technician. For general plumbing, insurance and references are what matter — that's what we vet.
My toilet keeps running — is that a quick fix?
Usually, yes. It's almost always a worn fill or flush valve seal, and a plumber can sort it in one short visit. Left running it can waste a surprising amount of water, so it's worth doing sooner rather than later.
What should I do if a pipe bursts?
Turn off the water at the mains stopcock (usually under the kitchen sink or near the front door), open the cold taps to drain the system, and switch off the immersion and boiler if water is near electrics. Then get a plumber — and take photos for your insurer.
How much does a plumber cost in Dublin?
