What is a Completion Certificate and do I need one?
For controlled works, a registered electrician issues a Certificate of Completion through Safe Electric. Keep it — you'll need it for insurance, and for a sale or letting of the property.
My trip switch keeps going — what causes that?
Usually a faulty appliance, moisture in an outdoor socket or shower circuit, or an overloaded circuit. Unplug everything on the affected circuit and reset. If it trips with nothing plugged in, it's a wiring fault and needs an electrician.
Should I replace an old fuse board?
If you still have rewireable fuses or no RCD protection, an upgrade to a modern consumer unit with RCDs is a real safety improvement. It's controlled work, so a registered contractor and a certificate are required.
How much does an electrician cost in Dublin?
